The Grizzly G0716 drum sander sports a 10” drum which is powered by a 1 ½ HP motor. The power may not be much when comparing it with others, but it will be adequate for DIY’ers and hobbyists alike. The conveyor belts features a variable speed output along with a 1/10 HP drive motor.
The 10” drum supports a maximum sanding width of 9 ½” to a max thickness of 3”. This will support smaller jobs such as toys. The feed speed is 1-10FPM and sports 90 degrees 4” dust port. The pros on the Grizzly 10” drum sander starts with the much smaller package. Most drum sanders are big, bulky, and heavy, but the G0716 is everything but. Coming in at only 220 pounds it’s one of the lightest on the market. Set-up is easy, and this one-person operation including moving along with wheels is very simple.
The adjustable speed conveyor and adjustable settings provides some great customization options. The conveyor makes it easy to get the perfect feed rate for an improved performance and the adjustable settings which includes spring loaded pressure rollers are some of the finest we’ve seen. The G0716 also accepts 3” wide sanding rolls which are very easy to install.

Cons
The most notable cons are the lack of power with the main motor and conveyor motor. Even at this price range, drum sanders typically sport at least a 2-HP motor and ¼ HP conveyor motor. This lack of power is noteworthy, and something to consider.
