Summary

It was only until 1927 that Art Emmons, chief engineer at a company called Porter Cable, invented the first portable electric sander, a belt-type sander called the “Take-About Sander” which weighed only about 5kgs. From the 1900’s to where we are today and comparing the ALEKO to not the others but to its very own sister the 690E, we have to conclude that the ALEKO 804c is definitely worth the price tag that's higher than most.

Power sanders have an important job in achieving a good quality finish. These tools get the job done more quickly and rather easily than sanding by hand. Powered by electricity, air compressors, or lithium batteries, sanders can be hand-held or mounted on a table.

Electric sanders are the most economical and are flexible in terms of portability. Power sanders are used for a wide range of projects, including decks, renovating, furniture, and bookshelves. It is crucial to use the sander and sandpaper best suited for the size and scope of the project; otherwise, valuable time, money both are wasted.

Cons

The ALEKO 804C weighs over 15 pounds which makes it too heavy especially compared to the power pro sander 2100 electric which weighs only 10 pounds. Compared to its sister The ALEKO 690E, the ALEKO 804c is $54 more expensive and in many customer reviews most users preferred the 690E over the 804c.

Furthermore, this power tool uses an 8 hole 9-inch disc and won't line up with the 9 inch, 10 hole disc which is recommended to buy with it some users reported this power tool to be too old or too new because they could not find the correct discs to go with it.

VERDICT

Sanding machines have been around since the beginning of the 19th century. Patents for early sanders and polishers go back as far as 1818. These machines were stationary and utilized a drum or a belt sanding mechanism. They were mainly intended for professional use in workshops and later floor sanding machines were introduced.

It was only until 1927 that Art Emmons, chief engineer at a company called Porter Cable, invented the first portable electric sander, a belt-type sander called the “Take-About Sander” which weighed only about 5kgs.
