Product Description
The JET JBOX-5 Oscillating Spindle Sander serves up a great option boasting a ½-HP motor for plenty of power for even the most experienced professional. The JBOS-5 features a 5 ½” table which serves as a platform for sanding while the oscillating motion of side to side and up and down simultaneously helps give you that amazing finish.
The table tilts up to 45 degrees and the 1” spindle serves up a scratch free finish every time. The large cast iron table proves that durability is no option and with a built in dust collection system you can easily hook up a vacuum system to minimize sanding dust. Out of the box you get five total spindles including a ¼”, ½”, 5/8”, 1 ½”, and 2” spindle. The JET JBOX-5 also accommodates a 3” spindle, but it’s not included.
The oscillating action produces non-friction sanding which minimizes any chances of burn marks and gives you a clean sanding finish every time. You can easily store your spindles away in the attached storage racks and the benchtop option has four non-skid soles for no slips. Safety is also key with a removable on/off switch which prevents accidental start-ups.

There are many positives noted by consumers with most depicting the JBOS-5 as a durable, sturdy platform. The base is quite strong, but is smaller than many others. The all-metal base is a formidable option that once again proves it’s quite durable while most others are mere plastic.

Cons
The biggest complaint of the JBOS-5 is the price, and marketed as a heavy-duty sander some would say it shouldn’t. There are cheaper options with similar specs that come in cheaper, and for the price you’re still missing out on some features such as a 3” spindle and larger than a 2” dust collection port.
Other complaints include unable to adjust the table from side to side. While it does allow for adjustments from front to back, the inability to adjust from side to side makes it difficult to sand taller pieces of wood. Another nuance with the JBOS-5 is that while there is storage for the included spindles, there’s not enough room for the three wrenches which are also included.
